I have always been a self confessed chocoholic and I think I always will be. Chocolate was the thing I missed most during the 90 Day SSS Plan I completed earlier this year so since finishing I have been on the hunt for ways to enjoy chocolate whilst keeping it as healthy as possible. Introducing Raw Halo Chocolate…
One of the things that really seemed to benefit my body whilst following the 90 Day SSS Plan was the reduction of refined sugar. I felt much less lethargic and had a lot more energy. It also changed my body in ways that I had never seen before! Raw Halo Chocolate fits the bill perfectly. They use just a small amount of coconut sugar to sweeten their bars. I used coconut sugar in some baking whilst following a Deliciously Ella recipe and I absolutely loved it. The coconut sugar gives an almost caramel kind of taste. Raw Halo chocolate is also kept raw throughout the produciton process meaning “the unroasted cacao retains its high levels of antioxidants, magnesium and iron; maximising its nutritional benefits”. Can we also take a moment to appreciate the Raw Halo Chocolate packaging which is just beautiful… and of course this is a super important thing!
With the weather getting so super cold at the moment I wanted to make my very own festive hot chocolate, using the amazing Raw Halo chocolate. I had a little play around and created the most incredibly rich and indulgent tasting hot choc but one that is much healthier. It is also dairy free, vegan, refined sugar free and totally tasty!! The cinnamon gives it an extra Christmassy flavour and what more could you want at this time of the year! Using the melted chocolate in the drink gives it a really rich and creamy taste without being too much.
280ml Oat Milk
10ml Agave syrup
1 Cinnamon Stick
35g bar of Raw Halo chocolate – I chose Dark + Ginger + Pecan flavour but so many would work so well depend what flavour you want!
Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and heat for 5 minutes until it is all combined and gets a little thicker in texture.
Pour into your favourite mug and enjoy!
