Nestled up on the 4th floor in House of Fraser on Deansgate lies the fairly new Wild Mint Cafe. The perfect combination of elegance and simplicity makes this cafe a gorgeous little breakfast, lunch or coffee stop. The cool minty / duck egg blue wash of colour that decorates the furnishings and crockery is very tranquil and calming. A chaotic Christmas shopping trip in town definitely calls for a relaxing refreshment break here! We popped over for lunch to try out the menu and see what the Wild Mint Cafe had to offer.
Along with the loveliest bunch of waiters and waitresses the Wild Mint Cafe has a charming menu. It is very simply and classical but all homemade and created from scratch that morning. You can see many of the salads and open sandwiches displayed on the counter and they all look so inviting and fresh. I went for the an avocado and feta open sandwich and Tom chose the salmon platter. Both were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Mine was served on a generous slab of seeded brown bread and Tom’s dish was served with a few slices too. The bread was delicious. Warm and fresh with lots of flavour. I loved the fact they had a selection of daily salads so I chose to try these on the side too. They were so nice and I could have easily enjoyed a large portion of this as a main course.
At the counter, alongside the colourful savoury dishes, there is a whole selection of very tempting sweet treats and cakes. I instantly spotted the Cannoli and Lobster Tail which I recognised from The Great British Bake Off! We both decided to try one of these each – they are teeny tiny after all. They were absolutely beautiful. The chocolate filling in my cannoli was so nutty and gorgeous. It all felt very Italian and I am now craving a trip to the Amalfi Coast.
I loved my visit to Wild Mint Cafe and will be sure to return to this gorgeous little spot nestled at the top of House of Fraser. The breakfast menu looked so good so I need to come back and try this out too! Look out for their festive menu which has just launched.
