Travel beauty secret!

If you read my first ever blog post, “‘About Time’ to make a change” which you can read here you will know that I recently went to Spain. I went with my uni dance society on Tour so we were competing/attending workshops in the day and partying by night! It was non stop to say the least but I had an incredible time with some incredible people.

Anyway, the trip involved a 27 hour coach journey from Leeds to Lloret de Mar. Having experienced this on Tour the previous year I knew it wasn’t something I wished to repeat. So me and a few others decided to fly. We booked our flights feeling extremely smug that we would arrive fresh faced and ready to go! However, we later realised that it would cost an extra £30 to take 15kg worth of luggage. The cost of flying meant that I had already spent more than I wanted so as much as I hated to admit it, we were looking at travelling by hand luggage alone.

Okay, I can do this I thought. How hard can it be?! 10kg worth of stuff for just 4 days was manageable right? Until it slowly dawned on me that all of my liquids had to be under 100ml! EEK. On looking through my drawers to find the usual ‘clear plastic bag’ to store my liquids in I came across my excessive hoard of samples that I had collected over the years from various magazines. I had a rummage through them and realised that I had enough sachets of shampoo, conditioner and body wash to last me more than the 4 days that I would be in Spain. On top of that, my collection of moisturisers, primers and foundations would keep me going for a while to say the least! Saving all of these samples was slowly turning out to be one of the best decisions that me-from-the-past had made. They ended up being the staple products in my wash bag and make up bag for the entire trip.

The photos show just a small selection of my samples!

I am so happy that circumstance lead me to this. It allowed me to try out a variety of new products and amongst them I found some beauty product must haves that I’d love to share with you!
I absolutely fell in love with L’oreal hair expertise EverRiche nourishing and taming shampoo. Even from tearing open the sachet, it had a gorgeous coconut smell which left me feeling so fresh! My hair is quite fine so the roots are prone to getting greasy whilst the ends are very dry and brittle. This product was perfect, leaving it feeling soft and nourished yet there wasn’t a build up of excess moisture at the roots.

The other product that I want to draw your attention to is actually also from L’oreal! It is the studio secrets professional primer. I think primers are an essential part of any makeup bag and so I am always on the look out for one that does a good job. This one did not fail to impress. It made my skin feel so smooth and even, preparing it beautifully for the rest of my makeup. I have added it straight to my shopping list!

This is definitely something that I will do again when I go away for a short period of time. More than anything it was really fun and exciting choosing a new foundation to try out each day and experimenting with new products. I would really recommend this technique to anyone who needs to travel light but doesn’t want to compromise on their beauty regime. It was a such a success and I discovered some wonderful new products! I’m sure everyone has a lot of samples lying around their room unused; you should really try them out because you never know what you might find!

This… is a really good idea because I get bored easily, and would get ridiculously excited over using different products every day. Even if it was only on holiday.
    (Yes, I am that sad.)
Will definitely try this next time I’m going on holiday!
